Creators: Help Us Help You!

| November 25, 2011 | 1 Comment

ComixTribe launched January 1 of this year with the mission statement of creators helping creators make better comics.  Based on the growing traffic on the site and the feedback we’ve received from many of you, I believe we’re living up to that goal.

In 2012, we hope to take the site to the next level. To that end, this post intends to be a reminder of the various opportunities ComixTribe has to help creators.  Please don’t hesitate to take advantage of them.

  • Are you releasing a comic next year that could use a review?  The Creator-Owned Zone, John Lees’ ever-insightful review column, is accepting review copies of books that are available for purchase.  So, if you have a comic that you’d like us to review, send an email to  coz@comixtribe.com.  The primary aim is to get increased exposure on creator-owned comics, and get more people reading them.   If you want more people reading your comics, what do you have to lose?
  • Got a script that could use some editorial feedback?  Here at ComixTribe, we’re big advocates of working with an editor to bring out the best in your writing.  We think we’ve got a pretty good one in Steve Forbes, and his column The Proving Grounds is accepting script submissions now.   Submit your script to  TPG@comixtribe.com, and make sure you read the instructions about how to format your submissions.  Not reading instructions makes Steven angry…and you wouldn’t like him when he’s angry.
  • Hey artists, did you miss out on a good portfolio review at cons this year?  Not to worry.  Game of Throne’s artist Tommy Patterson’s popular column Draw Over! has you covered.  If you’re an artist interested in submitting your sequentials for a future Draw Over! column, send an email to  DrawOver@comixtribe.com.
  • Want to share what you’ve learned as a creator this past year with the rest of ComixTribe?  Over the past year, ComixTribe has been honored to post a wide variety of great columns from hardworking creators out there doing the damn thing in our Trenches series.  If YOU fit the bill, and have a topic you want to riff on or advice you want to share, please don’t hesitate to send Tyler an email at tylerjamescomics@gmail.com with what you’re thinking.  I’d love to run it, and give you some link love back to your sites or projects.

Again, these are just a few of the opportunities ComixTribe has available for our fellow creators.  We hope you’ll take advantage of them, or let us know how else we might better live up to our mission statement.

Appreciate you reading, and being a part of our tribe.
