Self-Discipline

Daily Dose-green

Here’s my work day:

I work from 6pm to 6am.

While at work, I try to get some writing done: Bolts & Nuts, The Proving Grounds, these Daily Doses. I’m also working on a comic strip. I also write emails, do private editing, and do my moderator duties at Digital Webbing. That’s what I do while I’m at work.

When I get home, I work out (P90X or P90X3).

After I work out, I shower, then I eat. This is also the time that I get to talk to my wife.

I then watch something on Netflix, check/answer emails, write down any ideas I may want to explore later.

Now it’s roughly 9am, maybe 10am, and I’m winding down. I try to be asleep no later than 11, because I get up at 4:30pm and do it all over again.

That’s a lot.

Here’s my non-workday (in no particular order after the first):

I wake up and spend some time with my wife.

I check Digital Webbing, doing my moderator duties.

I do some writing: Bolts & Nuts, The Proving Grounds, Daily Doses, and whatever comic project I’ve given myself.

I do my private editing.

I check/write emails.

I work out.

Shower & eat.

That’s still a lot.

But that’s self-discipline.

This has allowed me to write 2 columns a week, every week, for the past 3 years. This has allowed me to do all that I do. I’m going to add in saxophone lessons pretty soon, too.

What kind of self-discipline do you have, and what does it allow you to do?
